About me

Not that counselling is about me, it’s about you, the client. You’re in acute need of support but often can’t turn to friends or family because they’re either part of the problem or have some agenda of their own.

As a Registered Accredited BACP counsellor, I can offer you the opportunity to talk about and explore your issues and fears in a safe, empathic, non-judgemental and confidential setting. I am an integrative counsellor and as such, I adapt and incorporate various evidence- based techniques used in a range of counselling and psychotherapy models to address different aspects of a client’s difficulties. This means the counselling process and strategies employed are based on a client's needs, rather than the limitations of one particular theoretical approach. For example, I may at some point use very similar techniques to a CBT therapist when working with anxiety or anger management or, when exploring the basis for a client's difficulty in forming successful adult relationships, it may be necessary to look back at the possible impact of key influences on the relationships they formed in early life via models such as schema therapy. My approach to counselling is essentially to focus on achieving greater levels of self-acceptance and personal growth. My main objective is to build a collaborative understanding with a client and to set some mutually agreed goals. Exploring all your experiences, positive and negative, is an essential part of the process of identifying and developing the use of your own personal resources.

Consultation

I offer an initial session of 30 - 40 minutes as a means of mutual introduction, which is free of charge and involves no further obligation on the part of the client or myself.

Sessions & fees

Sessions are usually 50 minutes and held weekly at the same time each week (unless arranged otherwise in advance).

Session fees for individual counselling or CBT are £50; please note that individual sessions for working with sex addictions are charged at £60.  Fees are payable in cash or by BACS at least 24 hours prior to the session(s).

Advance payment for a block of 6 sessions qualifies for a discount of 15%, e.g. a total of £255 rather than £300 for standard individual therapy (Please note - an advance 6 session booking allows no refunds for cancellation, and all sessions are to be taken within 9 weeks after the initial session)
